1. Do not wear it immediately after birth
You cannot wear shapewear immediately after a Cesarean section. You should wait at least half a month. If your uterus stops bleeding within half a month, you can wear it, because although the uterine recovery period is usually one month, the cessation of bleeding means it has essentially recovered. Everyone’s recovery time is different and depends on their own physical recovery.
2. Must wait for wounds to heal before wearing
It is suitable to wear shapewear only after C-section wounds have healed. It is generally better to wear shaping clothes after natural delivery; for C-sections, ensure there is absolutely no lochia remaining. During delivery, an abdominal binder should be used first to lift and return the internal organs that dropped during pregnancy. Do not wear shapewear immediately after delivery. This will easily cause more pressure and discomfort to internal organs that have not yet returned to their proper places.
3. Pay attention to choosing shapewear made of excellent materials
For new postpartum mothers, the pelvis expands, and fat accumulates severely in areas such as the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs! The skin becomes loose and saggy, and the figure becomes deformed and out of shape. Specialized shapewear can not only prevent sagging of the abdominal cavity organs and help the uterus recover, but also help with pelvic contraction, gradually restoring the body shape to its prenatal state. Therefore, new mothers should choose a set of postpartum-specific shapewear that offers excellent elasticity, is lightweight and breathable, and is comfortable to wear.
4. Choose comfortable and well-fitting clothes
Shapewear should not be too tight; if it is too tight, it can easily compress the body’s organs and increase abdominal pressure, which is not conducive to postpartum recovery. The most important thing postpartum is to first repair birth injuries, such as pelvic floor muscle laxity and diastasis recti. Repairing the pelvic floor muscles can be improved through Kegel exercises. Wait until the pelvic floor muscles are repaired before proceeding with the repair of diastasis recti and the pelvis.
